Industrial Control and Automation Fall 2016

Updated: 10th December 2016

ICA Assignments to be submitted before 1 PM (AFTERNOON) Sunday, 11th December.

Assignment 2:
Chapter 7: Final Control
Section: 7.6.3 Fluid Valves, pages 374 - 380

Read the whole sub-section 7.6.3 and solve the examples 7.9, 7.10 and 7.12 on pages 375, 376 and 379. Submit these solved examples along with solved Problem number 7.18 on page 383.

The chapter number and page numbers are from Curtis Johnson's Process Control Instrumentation Technology, 8th Edition, Hard Copy. While for the e-book that I provided on PAF3, there are no chapter numbers mentioned in that book. In e-book, the Chapter is named the same Final Control. The sub-section is 6.3 Fluid Valved from page 400 - 406. The examples to solve are 9, 10 and 12. The problem to solve is 18 on page 409.

Assignment 3:

Make the ladder logic diagram for problem 8.15 on page 436 in Curtis Johnson book. In the e-book this Problem 15 on page 466. Remember you have to use Delta PLC's syntax in programming ladder logic.

Submit both assignments either handwritten and scanned or in a Word document, it's up to you. Email your assignments to ameen.qureshi@pafkiet.edu.pk before 1 PM on Sunday.

ICE: Siemens LOGO Application Examples

Happy Sunday students

Siemens hosts a page on their domain regarding the application examples for LOGO controller. Please CLICK HERE to visit the page.

This page contains enough information and examples for the LOGO module that cannot be found elsewhere. I highly recommend you to go through it and get you project ideas from this page.

The projects will be implemented on hardware; on any one of the three we have available in the lab. You can conceive any idea with the help of these examples and implement it on either LOGO, S7-300 or Delta PLC, which we can decide after individual discussions with the groups.

These examples, as I remember from my last study of this page, are mostly in FBD. So, I might need you to convert them to Ladder logic or STL if you use them.

The rest we will keep discussing in the lab.

So long,
Amin
